As the parent organization for Indo-Canadians for over 40 years, ICCA Saskatoon has been leading the community development and showcasing cultural heritage in Saskatoon. This year, ICCA Saskatoon has decided to make the 75th Independence Day celebrations incredibly special. This is to invite you to 75th Independence Day of India celebration in Saskatoon on Aug 15th, 2021. The event will start at 1pm and is expected to go for an hour. The Venue for the event is: Shri Laxminarayan Temple, 107 La Rounge Road, Saskatoon.
All Indian Associations in Saskatoon will be celebrating this event together to the mark the solidarity in the community and pay homage to our veterans who have sacrificed their lives so that we can be independent and self-reliant.
We mark the celebrations with Flag hoisting ceremony and other cultural events. This year, the celebrations become more personal and emotional for all of us as we come out of Pandemic restrictions.
We look forward to your presence. For further details please contact me at 306-351-4623 or via email at announcements@iccasaskatoon.ca
Dear Saskatoon Folkfest Colleagues - Pavilion Member Representatives, Admin and Summer Staff, and Board Colleagues!
On behalf of the Board and Executive Director, we want to thank you for your efforts during this most precedent setting pandemic roller coaster of a time we are coming through as a community and world! Please see email and attached with an update and your invitation to a post-festival backyard bash.
We are very much looking forward to us as a Folkfest Family along with all our loyal Folkfesters putting on our very own intimate backyard bashes during this year’s virtual event, Culture Connect live streaming on Facebook [1] and YouTube [2] August 20 and 21 at 7 pm; and, to supporting all the other complementary efforts we have planned leading up to and following the event.
Other activities include: ordering our own pavilion feasts from the India, Chinese and Philippine pavilions, head to shopstoonfolkfest.com [3] for all the mouthwatering details. Connecting culture with sites around our city via the new Folkfest Photo Quest [4], joining the conversation with your fellow pavilion volunteers at a Virtual Cultural Workshop [5] on August 17, 18 or 25, or checking out or first-ever online 50/50 raffle at saskatoonfolkfest5050.ca [6]
On Sunday, August 22, from 7 to 9 pm we would like to invite you and your significant other, friend or family member to a small informal backyard bash in appreciation of all of these efforts. And to, finally, meet in person to say such.
This intimate event will be held in the backyard and home of Lenore and her partner, Kelley’s at 610 Walmer Road in Caswell Hill - a modest green and white bungalow with a front deck on the north side literally on the hill. Walmer Road is a continuation of 25th Street West (that starts where the Holiday Inn Express is located and is between Ave F and G North).
Please bring a lawn chair. Board members will be providing some refreshments and snacks to celebrate and toast our efforts. No RSVP required though appreciated by Friday August 20th.
